Often I will see postings on social media that contain really important truths. For example, a reporter for CNN who admits that Hamas operatives dress in civilian clothes and are counted as civilian casualties when they are killed in battle. He admitted that this fact was deliberately edited out of his report by his bosses at CNN so as not to anger the “Palestinians.” And so the main stream media has pretty much toed the line the entire war as the trumpet for Hamas propaganda.
I thought to myself: such an important announcement. There should be a million likes and forwards. Do you know how many there were? One. And after me, two.
Whatever you want to say about bad Israeli P.R., the truth is that we are simply a tiny minority in the world, our voices and our truths drowned out by the sheer force of numbers. This allows the most outrageous lies to be perpetrated.
But every time I see some idiot denying that Hamas killed civilians (would you believe it? Still?) I remember how the press ignored the information coming out of Europe about the concentration camps, and the killing units, and the ovens and the gas chambers. It was deemed war propaganda and ignored. And then, when the allied soldiers actually went into Bergen Belsen and took photographs, not so long after we still had to go to court against the Richard Irvings of the world who denied the Holocaust happened at all.
I don’t know what the solution is, because there isn’t any. We have been falsely maligned for centuries. Therefore, it is incumbent upon us to do what the incomparable Melanie Phillips tells us Jews to do: to stop nodding along to the same kind of lies that have consumed the West. It is time for Jews and their allies worldwide to proclaim the following, non-stop:
- Everything that Israel does in in accordance with international law.
- The Jews are the indigenous people of Israel, the whole land, and the Arabs are the colonialists.
- There is no such thing as the Palestinians.
- The Palestinian cause was invented only to steal the Jews identity and history in the land from them.
- The Jews alone have the legal and historical right to the land and anyone who supports the Palestinian cause is supporting the demonization of the Jews.
Maybe no one will listen. Maybe very few. Nevertheless, this is our job, and none of us can claim an exemption.
The Iranian missile that hit the Weizmann Institute of Science destroyed invaluable cancer research samples that cannot be replaced for years. Senior scientist Dr. Leeat Yankielowicz-Keren, a cancer researcher in the Faculty of Biology, whose lab team consisted of 12 scientists, told the Jerusalem Post that when she learned of the destruction early in the morning, she was “in mourning. Scientific devices that cost hundreds of thousands of shekels can be replaced,” she added, “but what can’t be are many tumor samples taken and studied over five years from cancer patients, not only in Israel but also in the US, France, Switzerland, and other countries. These cannot be replaced.”
She said their written data was safe, but the loss of the samples in the lab, about the size of a four-room apartment, is a big problem. Among other things, they were working on a vaccine against cancer.
Not only do Islamists contribute nothing to the world, but they also prevent others from bringing good to mankind. “Now we are already rebuilding. Institute heads are working around the clock; they have been wonderful. We are starting to build again, temporarily in other spaces on campus or sharing labs.”
My daughter works at the Weizmann Institute. She is tasked with finding room in an existing building to house 22 labs that must be relocated. She is there until late every night. But there is a feeling of shared purpose among the staff who are doing all they can under difficult circumstances.
We finished off Iran in 12 days. Yet the war against Hamas drags on, every day bringing new heartbreaking casualities among our soldiers. Journalist Amit Segal explains that there are three reasons things are taking so long.
- Number one: the hostages. The army simply can’t risk killing them, and so each advance is long, difficult and fraught with danger.
- Number two: The pressure and insistence of the Biden Administration that thousands of aid trucks go into Gaza daily, even though it was known that the aid was stolen by Hamas providing them with oxygen and financial aid to keep going.
- And number three: at the beginning of the war, the IDF didn’t have enough battalions to fight both Hamas and Hezbollah simultaneously, and so they did what they could in Gaza. But now that the war in the north is over, the IDF has gone back into Gaza and is carefully and systematically destroying the Hamas infrastructure in town after town, permanently taking over.
Can the corrupt Palestinian Authority be losing its grip? Amit Segal told the Wall Street Journal: Five important sheikhs from Hebron are interested in joining the Abraham Accords and replacing the Palestinian Authority as the policing and governing force in the city. “We want cooperation with Israel,” says Sheikh Wadi al-Jabari. “We want coexistence.” Sheikh al-Jabari and four other sheikhs from Hebron signed a letter in which they commit to peace and full recognition of Israel as a Jewish state.
Their plan: Hebron will detach from the Palestinian Authority, establish its own independent emirate, and join the Abraham Accords.
The letter is addressed to Minister of Economy Nir Barkat, former mayor of Jerusalem, who hosted the sheikhs at his home and has met with them more than ten times since February. They are asking him to forward the letter to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and are awaiting his response. “The Hebron Emirate will recognize the State of Israel as the nation-state of the Jewish people,” the sheikhs write, “and the State of Israel will recognize the Hebron Emirate as the representative of the Arab residents in the Hebron district.”
The letter requests to set a timetable for negotiations to join the Abraham Accords and to reach a “fair and appropriate” arrangement to replace the Oslo Accords, which they say “brought only harm, death, economic disaster, and destruction.” The Oslo Accords,” signed in the 1990s between Israel and the PLO, “brought us the corrupt Palestinian Authority instead of recognizing the traditional and authentic leadership – the tribes.”
The sheikhs propose that Israel admit 1,000 workers from Hebron for a trial period, and later an additional 5,000. According to them, Barkat told them this number would increase to 50,000 workers or even more.
Employment in Israel is an important source of livelihood for Palestinians, but most permits were frozen after October 7. The letter commits to “zero tolerance for terror by workers– unlike the current situation, in which the Authority pays terrorists.” Barkat claims that the old peace process has failed, and therefore “new thinking is required.” He is acting with the knowledge of the Israeli government, and Netanyahu cautiously supports the initiative but is waiting to see how it develops. Now, as Sheikh Jabari publicly launches this initiative, it seems time is running out.
The article highlights a long-standing partnership with the settlers “who will find much to like in the plan.” The sheikhs’ letter mentions talks with Yossi Dagan, leader of the settlers in Samaria. Yossi Dagan says he supports and indeed worked on the plan together with the sheikhs. Mr. Dagan says he first met Sheikh Jabari 13 years ago: “His father was a brave leader who put his people first, and so does the son.”
Interesting!
