Ahmed al-Sharaa, who only a few years ago was an Al Qaeda and ISIS terrorist known as Abu Mohammed al-Jolani, once had a 10 million dollar bounty on his head courtesy of the United States. His was a short journey from spearheading Al-Qaeda’s entry into Syria at the direction of Al-Qaeda’s Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi – to becoming the darling of the West. Unfortunately, outfit and name changes are so much easier than ideology or character changes.
Members of the new Syrian regime wearing Al Qaeda symbols on their uniforms, along with Bedouin supporters of the regime, have entered the Druze town of Suwayda and slaughtered, raped, humilated and tortured the non-Muslim residents. Bedouin tribes used drones, obtained from the Syrian regime and operated by Russian-speaking Chechens, to attack the civilian population. It is believed that the real death count – as opposed to the convenient number of 301 chosen by the Syria regime, is close to one thousand. Hours after the declaration of the ceasefire, video evidence of Bedouin tribes and Salafi Sunni supporters of al-Julani’s regime can be seen taking Druze captive in pickup trucks and beheading a Druze in Suwayda.
Other videos uploaded which I have seen show Julani’s men herding a whole family to their balconies, shooting them, and then throwing them over. I have seen distinguished Druze religious leaders humilated by having their facial hair removed (echoes of what the Nazis did to rabbis during the Holocaust). Sky News documented the looting of Druze homes by the Bedouin invaders.
The jihadists are also massacring Christians in southern Syria, including
Pastor Khalid Mezher, leader of the Good Shepherd Evangelical Church, and his entire extended family. Originally from a Druze background, Pastor Mezher came to faith in Jesus and established a church in Suwayda. It’s heartbreaking. The following plea was issued by the Archdiocese of Bosra, Horan, Jabal al-Arab, and the Gol: “Glory to God in all things. The ongoing war in Suwayda Governorate is a war of annihilation killing both young and old. Therefore, I raise my voice loudly to the international community and to the United Nations to help us. I hope this cry reaches the whole world.”
Now, I know that it is very convenient for the West, who would like nothing more than to rid themselves of Syrian illegals by shipping them all back to their home country under the pretense that it is now ruled by a stable and progressive government, but really!
All those out there screaming bloody murder about the “genocide” in Gaza are watching these same videos with ne’er a peep of protest. Even our good friend Marco Rubio, a realist and truth teller, has, like his boss, a blind spot when it comes to Julani and his terrorists. Here he sums up the situation, without admitting that the regime itself if actually the perpetrator of the atrocities against the Druze:
Rubio: “If authorities in Damascus want to preserve any chance of achieving a unified, inclusive and peaceful Syria free of ISIS and of Iranian control, they must help end this calamity by using their security forces to prevent ISIS and any other violent jihadists from entering the area and carrying out massacres. And they must hold accountable and bring to justice anyone guilty of atrocities including those in their own ranks.”
Similarly, the American envoy Tom Barrack, US ambassador to Turkey and Syria: “The brutal acts by warring factions undermine the government’s authority.”
As Abu Ali points out: “The current Syrian regime is itself ISIS. It’s a bit difficult to ask it to remove ISIS and the violent jihadists when they are one and the same, of their own flesh and blood. That’s who they are. It’s in their DNA. It’s like asking Hamas to remove the murderers from within itself. These factions are not undermining the regime’s authority. They are the regime!”
Want more proof? Julani just got on television to THANK the Bedouin Sunni militias in southern Syria for their “heroic” actions in confronting the Druze “criminal gangs,” but he urged them to now stand down and let regime forces restore order.
Once a jihadist, always a jihadist.
This situation obviously puts Israel in a deep bind. While in the beginning, Israel was aggressively bombing Damascus to warn off the jihadi slaughterers, pressure from the White House for a “ceasefire” caused Netanyahu to do an about face. Unfortunately, the ISIS murderers took this as an invitation to continue.
Quite aside from Israel’s moral obligation to help a fellow minority, especially one like the Druze who have loyally aligned themselves with the goals of Zionism, we have soldiers in the Golan and elsewhere who are in the firing line if things heat up. Moreover, the illegal run across the border of hundreds of Israeli Druze to help their brothers in Suwayda put them and our own forces – which would need to rescue them – in danger.
Thankfully, they have returned.
At the moment, the American brokered ceasefire between the Druze and Julani’s forces is holding. At nine a.m. those inside Suwayda reported it was quiet. But the Druze are unwilling to allow Julani’s forces to enter to “enforce the ceasefire.” Only the Red Crescent were allowed in. Aid trucks with medical supplies were sent back to Damascus. Right now the Syrian Minister of Health and the Syrian Minister of Welfare are waiting outside Suwayda because the Druze leader refused to approve their entry. It’s a very, very volatile situation complicated by the wishful thinking and forced blindness of the West to what is actually going on. I understand the Druze completely.
From Israel Today: US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth to visiting Defense Minister Israel Katz at the Pentagon: “Congratulations on the incredible success of Operation Rising Lion and the 12-Day War. It changed the region and the world and was an example of why Israel is a model ally. We saw in real time what you are capable of. What you did and what we did remade the region and created incredible opportunities.” Thanks, Pete!
Well, Hamas’s pockets are empty because the aid trucks they depended on looting aren’t available anymore. Boo hoo! Their reaction? A “Hunger in Gaza” campaign complete with photogenic children rounded up from Gaza schools to beat pots to declare how “hungry” they are. This is a widespread and coordinated campaign that is sure to sweep the useful idiots in the West. The situation continues to be exploited by entrepreneurial Gazans, like social media activist Abood Battah, a successful social media “beggar” who is a millionaire: “The nutritional situation in Gaza is so bad that we can’t even stand on our feet,” he lies to the camera, forgetting to mention that in only one of his many campaigns he managed to collect more than 110,000 euros “for Abood’s hope.” He has more than a million idiot followers on TikTok.
The IDF continues to pound Gaza and eliminate terrorists. This week’s casualties include Barhoum Shahin, the Head of the Western Gaza District in the General Security Apparatus, and the terrorist Asham Tzartzur, the Head of Hamas’ Government Emergency Committee in eastern Gaza. Both of them were involved in killing dissident Gazans as well as Israelis.
While President Trump speaks of hostage releases, giving hope (torturing?) the families of those held hostage, there seems to be absolutely no movement on Hamas’ part to give an inch. They will fight to the last Gazan human shield. Now if only our dear President Trump would pressure their Qatari puppet masters, we might actually see some real progress.
Let’s hope!
