What is it like, you might wonder, to wake up each morning unsure if your home and your street are going to be standing by the end of the day? I hate to admit this, but we Israelis are getting used to it. Luckily, we carry around deep in our souls, some strange confidence that whatever is going to happen, it will be all right. We might need medical attention, or to rebuild. We might even be dead. But our country is going to be okay. We’ll go on.
Where does this confidence come from? Well, basically, experience. We’ve been through so much. What worries us the most, of course, is the well-being of our entire extended family. My granddaughter in-law, is in the end of her eighth month. Will the hospital she chooses to give birth in be a protected space? Will she have to hurry through bombs to get there? And what about the other kids, who don’t have bomb shelters, who have to run down four flights with their two babies and cross the street each time an alarm goes off? How I wish I could help them! But it’s impossible. We have to depend on the IDF and God.
Honestly, the hardest thing for me sometimes, is dealing with the vicious ugliness of the world turning against the Jewish people once more. A terrorist drives a truck filled with explosives into a synagogue in which a preschool program is taking place. The children are saved. The terrorist either is shot, or shoots himself in the head. The bombs catch fire but don’t go off. Everyone is horrified, until, of course, they discover the terrorist is a naturalized Lebanese immigrant whose brother got taken out by Israel last week. Oh, how fast the little blondes of the MSM take a quick U-turn, suddenly filled with sympathy and understanding. His brother…killed by Israel… They don’t mention, of course, that “the brother” was blood-thirsty Hezbollah commander Ibrahim Muhammad Ghazali, who managed weapons operations within a specialized branch of the Badr Unit responsible for launching hundreds of rockets toward Israeli civilians throughout the war. Happily Israel did eliminate him last week. But even if his brother was a brain surgeon, in what universe does a terrorist targeting an American pre-school get sympathy?
I’m trying to imagine if an Israeli were to drive a truck loaded with explosives into a mosque preschool because of losing family members to Hamas, Hezbollah or Iran. You all know what would be said. So, little girls shot in the head in Australia, and pre-schools in Michigan, nothing is not explainable as soon as you put “Jewish” in front of the victims’ names.
Where is this going to end? When are Americans and Europeans waking up?
Tucker Carlson is now apparently concerned that the FBI has uncovered emails between him and his Iranian operator and he fears being arrested because he hasn’t registered as a foreign agent. Isn’t that treason, now that the U.S. is at war with Iran?
Bombs have landed in Tel Aviv, Nes Tziyona, Eilat, and dozens of other places. Miraculous there are no further deaths and only minor injuries to those who didn’t heed the alarm and remained in the street. Cars are destroyed. Roads get deep pot holes. Apartment buildings are wrecked but still Israeli life goes on. The roads are full of cars. The supermarkets have no lack of food, or customers.
Yet, how long can we live like this?
As long as we have to. We are ensuring the future of our children, grandchildren, great grandchildren. What we can’t live with is a nuclear bomb in the making, ballistic missiles in the making, in the hands of a regime worse than the Nazis. We can get through this, because this is no alternative. It’s a tunnel, and the only way out is to go through until there is light. I am so proud of the pilots doing this work. God bless them, Israelis and Americans.
I scroll through the photos of the day. I have to say what we are doing to them is much worse than what they are doing to us. Hezbollah is now in our cross-hairs. Israel’s 7th brigade, after months of fighting in Gaza, is now targeting Hezbollah with immense force. Hundreds of terrorists are eliminated daily. Hamas took this opportunity to flaunt its power, riding around with gun-toting terrorists. Today the IAF blasted them. Fourteen eliminated. We have enough bombs for them all.
The IDF sums up two weeks of war with Iran: Thousands from the ruling party dead, and tens of thousands injured, along with a lowering of morale and increasing refusal to follow orders. The Iranians have lost the ability to manufacture missiles because of heavy bombardment of their manufacturing facilities. In addition, 70 percent of their missile launchers are inoperable. The purpose of “Lion’s Roar” is to remove the existential Iranian threat for all time.
From Israel Today: The regime that aspired to dominate the Middle East, intimidate the Gulf states, challenge Europe and ultimately destroy the United States cannot even effectively defend its own territory. More than that, it couldn’t even protect is own ”supreme leader,” who was taken out in the first forty seconds of the opening shot of the war! The regime that has financed much of the world’s terrorism over the past half century is in fact, a paper tiger.”
Hopefully, our real lion will soon swallow it whole.
Until that happens, we will wake up every morning, face the day, and say our prayers: “Have no fear of sudden terror or the ruin when it overtakes the wicked. Let them devise their plots, they will be thwarted; make their plans, they will be not come to fruition, for God is with us. When we grow old, He will stay the same. When our hair turns grey, He will carry us. He made us, He will bear us, He will carry us, and rescue us.”
