Yesterday, after experiencing a rocket attack, I thought to myself, how would I feel if what is happening to little Israel was happening to another country across the world? How would I feel about a group of peaceful, industrious people who had come back to their native land after a long exile and expulsion by colonialists (Rome, Ottomans, Arabs) in the wake of experiencing the horrors of mass extermination, mass rape, the murder of a million of their children, wholesale looting…? How would I feel if this little country – filled with survivors and their children and grandchildren were attacked non-stop by vicious terrorists? How would I feel about another people who had experienced the barbaric invasion and brutality and kidnapping of October 7? It’s not just theoretical. I have often deeply mourned what happened to the Yazidis and the Armenians…
For the life of me, I cannot think why Israel has received almost no sympathy and no love at all from most of the nations of the world. Even if Israelis had not contributed so much to the world – medical breakthroughs, advancements in technology that helped to bring water to the desert, purify pollution, clean the air – even without all that, simply on a human level, I cannot for the life of me understand the sheer ugliness of the hatred coming our way. I cannot understand people who sign internet wishes hoping for the death of Israeli children with “soapmaker, 1940.” Really?
It reminds me of the story of the flood, when the earth was filled with “hamas,” which ironically is the Hebrew word for violence. Once again, the world has been corrupted.
The Jewish New Year is coming up. Unlike many others, who view the start of a New Year as a time to get drunk and get laid, we Jews have another way of welcoming it in: with soul-searching and a sincere desire to do better. We Jews also believe that not only are the Land of Israel, and the Jewish people, judged on Rosh Hashana and its fate inscribed, but that every nation on earth comes before the Almighty to be judged. The nations of the world have much to repent this year. The consequences for persisting with such evil will be dire.
And speaking of dire sins, the attempt by the Biden-Harris administration to force Israel to discontinue the war against the terrorists of Hezbollah, is nothing more that backing the terrorists against the victims. The “21 day ceasefire” is backed by Biden-Harris, Australia, Canada, The European Union, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates and Qatar. Oh, my. All our “good friends.”
If only a proposal had been signed by all the same people to demand the return of the hostages and that Hezbollah obey the UN resolution to pull back across the Litani River away from Israel’s borders. But no. Much easier for them to pressure Israel than their Islamic friends. Imagine if the Allies in the middle of WW II were asked to give up fighting Hitler for a month for no good reason?
Let me say it plainly. I don’t think so.
I will allow Abu Ali to elaborate: “Hezbollah’s army and military capabilities have not been removed enough for the organization to stop being a threat to Israel and there is no other force besides Israel that will enforce the destruction of these capabilities. Not the USA, not the Security Council, not France. No one. We in Israel have a lot of experience in this matter.
“This has nothing to do with Hezbollah’s desire or lack of it to withdraw across the Litani river. Hezbollah is simply too big a military monster and Israel will not soon have such a good opportunity to destroy more and more of its terrorist base and military capabilities.
“The second reason is that Israel’s firm stance in this war is beginning to change the Middle East. There are a lot of forces in the Middle East including Lebanon, Syria and other countries in the Middle East, that are waiting for the balance of power to shift against Hezbollah and the Iranian axis… Hezbollah is Iran’s most important proxy – the tip of its spear, and with the decline of its capabilities, Iran’s influence in the region will be reduced.”
I agree.
Whatever you may be seeing on Certainly Not News, our Prime Minister has not agreed to any such ceasefire. In fact, his office issued the following statement “The report about a ceasefire is incorrect. It is an American-French proposal to which Israel’s prime minister has not even responded. “The report about an alleged order to moderate the fighting in the north is also the opposite of the truth. The Prime Minister has ordered the IDF to continue fighting at full force, according to the plans presented to him.”
Israel’s Chief of Staff is also opposed: “We must continue to attack Hezbollah. We have been waiting for this opportunity for years. We are constantly working to achieve success, eliminate more high-ranking members, prevent the transfer of weapons, weaken Hezbollah’s firepower and attack it in all areas of Lebanon.”
Certainly, today’s activities showed no sign of a slowdown, neither in Gaza nor in Lebanon. The IDF Spokesperson Unit announced that today (Thursday), the IAF struck and eliminated the terrorist Muhammad Hussein Srour in Beirut. Srour advanced and directed numerous aerial terror attacks, including drone attacks, cruise missiles, and UAVs aimed at the people of Israel. In recent years, Srour led the manufacturing project of UAVs in southern Lebanon and established UAV manufacturing and intelligence gathering sites in Lebanon, located adjacent to civilian infrastructure in Beirut, as well as areas in southern Lebanon.
Precise intelligence allowed a pinpointed attack against Srour’s apartment building in rhe area of the Al Ka’am Mosque in Dahieh of Beirut. https://t.me/englishabuali/35260
In addition, 16 villages in southern Lebanon were attacked between 16:00 and 17:00. The Palestinians report at least ten deaths in the attack on the al Fajula school in the Jabaliya refugee camp in the northern Gaza Strip a short time ago (remember, “school” is just a euphemism for terrorist hangout and weapons depot.)
Hezbollah for its part published a declaration accepting responsibility for barrages towards the Zevulun area in Haifa and towards Kiryat Motzkin. These are both civilian settlements. To target civilian settlements is a war crime. Hezbollah’s admission is something new. In the past they’ve always justified attacks by inventing a military base or target that they were supposedly aiming at. This time they didn’t bother. Israel should make use of this admission and press – as Abu Ali suggests – the Prosecutor General at the Criminal Court in The Hague to issue arrest warrants for Hezbollah ministers serving in the Lebanese government…
Other reasons to oppose a ceasefire: hundreds of family men, reservists, have been called up and are already on their way to Lebanon, away from their families. And all the residents of Northern Israel are refugees since October 8. We can’t sit around for three weeks doing nothing. We need our hostages released. Our countrymen in the north back safely in their homes.
Anything else is just surrender.
