MK Israel Katz has warned the Palestinian Authority that if it continues to back the Hague’s resolution, forcing a UN vote, Israel will “stop all cooperation with the PA and bring about its dissolution.” The outrageous resolution calls for an Israeli withdrawal from the territories within six months, ending the settlement enterprise and “the return of Palestinians to their land, enforced sanctions on senior Israeli officials, and blocking weapons sales to Israel if they might be used in Palestinian areas.”
The increase in terror activity has us all on edge. You just never know where the next attack will be coming from. Today, Rosh Ha’ayin police officers stopped a shuttle bus with 13 illegal residents inside as they were traveling on cross country Highway 6. Nothing was found in the search of the vehicle. It is suspected that at least some of them were planning a terror attack.
I saw a video taken last week of an IDF soldier at the Allenby Crossing asking a Jordanian truck driver to come out for a security inspection. The driver refused. In response, the soldier shot out one of his truck tires. Later, the soldier was arrested! This week, a truck driver at the Allenby Crossing whipped out a gun and killed three Israeli workers at just such a security inspection at the Allenby Crossing. I hope the soldier gets a medal.
Jordan is completely responsible for this attack. They need to figure out security. But given the fireworks and extensive partying in Amman celebrating the cold-blooded murder of our people, this doesn’t seem likely. Only after 14 hours did the Jordanian government issue a very weak condemnation, and this probably only after extensive US pressure. We have peace treaties with Jordan. Dozens of trucks carrying supplies to the West Bank and Israel make the border crossing daily. All that has been stopped pending clarifications on security matters with the Jordanians. Only the civilian crossing has been reopened.
It occurred to me that all the pro-Hamas marchers are actually paying lip service to one set of values, while actively supporting the opposite. They are against colonization, but support the world’s biggest colonizers, Arabs from Arabia that are taking over the world, and took over the native homeland of the Jewish people, Judea, before selling their land, or running away to help Arab armies re-colonize.
They say they are against apartheid, but actively support Arab countries which have ethnically-cleansed their entire Jewish population, and a terror organization attempting to achieve just that in Israel.
They claim they are fighting against genocide, but by supporting Hamas, they are supporting the Hamas charter calling for the genocide of the Jewish People. Such ignoramuses and hypocrites! Hard to argue Israel is committing genocide when it helps to vaccinate the children of Gaza against polio, adopting a de facto cease-fire in Gaza to facilitate this. Today had the fewest casualties in Gaza since the beginning of the war.
Abu Ali: “Official Syrian media reports 5 dead and 19 wounded in the extensive wave of attacks attributed to Israel. Throughout the night, according to Syrian sources, five different waves of attacks were recorded, with the first starting around 11:20 PM and the last one being reported on social media around 02:40 AM.
“According to the reports on social networks, the attacks targeted several sites in the Mezaif area, Hama district, where the Institute for Scientific Centers is located. According to videos, secondary explosions and flying rockets/missiles were also observed in quite a few cases – which indicates damage to military warehouses.
“Syrian sources claim that in addition to fighter jets, UAVs also took part in the extensive attack that harassed the work of the rescue forces. Sources associated with the Assad regime claim that the Syrian air defense systems were able to shoot down some of the Israeli UAVs and missiles [in their dreams, NR] Unofficial Syrian sources affiliated with the Syrian regime described the Israeli “flood of missiles” as a “belt of fire” that exhausted Syrian air defense systems, admitting outright that it was beyond the capabilities of their air defense systems to intercept.”
Some Israeli sources are saying these attacks are a forerunner to the opening of the long delayed war on Hezbollah. Former Cabinet Minister Gantz has recently said that if a deal to free the hostages cannot be brokered, then the IDF must move on to attack Hezbollah.
This morning, a Hezbollah drone exploded on an apartment building in Nahariyah, in the Galilee. There were no reported injuries. The targeting of civilian apartment building is very serious, says army spokesman Herzi Halevi, along with the continued attacks against Israelis in the North. Alarms were sounded in Kiryat Shmoneh and Shlomi. The IDF, Halevi says, is in full readiness with plans on how to stop it once and for all.
On Facebook: “All those who shouted ‘Peace Now’ when there was no one with whom to make peace, are now shouting ‘Deal Now’ when there is no one with whom to make a deal.” Exactly.
Given the abrogation of all the treaties made with Gaza before the Disengagement, it is no secret that the Israeli settlement movement is prepared to set up communities in Gaza once again, believing it is the only realistic way to secure the border from further murderous attacks. I personally feel it is just the thing to hammer into the heads of the Gazans just how much their murderous attacks have cost them. Nothing but the loss of land will do that. It’s the only thing Fakestinians understand. Believe it or not, Israelis are lining up to create new communities the moment the government gives them the green light.
On August 28, the IDF spokesman announced that “in a discussion chaired by the Chief of Staff and with the approval of the Minister of Defense, Colonel Elad Goren was appointed the head of the humanitarian-civilian effort in the Gaza Strip in the MTP unit.” This is the first position of its kind since the beginning of the war, the main focus of which is the control of humanitarian efforts in the Gaza Strip and coordination with the international community. The humanitarian operations will continue while taking care of Israel’s security interests, allowing it to continue fighting Hamas. Netanyahu has instructed the IDF to prepare for food distribution in the Gaza Strip.
Considering the six hostages killed were found to have been starved, some weighing less than 80 pounds, and were kept in a tunnel with little air to breathe, Israel’s concern for feeding the Gazans is hard to swallow. But the rules for Jews are always different, aren’t they?
I understand the rationale.
Finance Minister and Cabinet member Bezalel Smotrich, who took credit for this move, explained that: “the main thing is to take responsibility for the humanitarian aid and actually create a governmental alternative to Hamas, perhaps through a third party. This is a psychological step that will increase the chances of a deal.”
How does all this fit in with the resettlement scenario? Settlements are not created by government decree. Most settlements were previously military outposts. The appointment of Colonel Goren means, at the very least, a temporary military rule at this stage in the Strip.
The idea of returning to Gush Katif is already taking shape. Interviews and conferences promoting the idea have already been held, with very pro-settlement MK’s like Orit Struck, the minister in charge of new settlements, and settlement leader Daniella Weiss, obviously gung-ho. What I find amazing is that Israelis, even after October 7, are actually brave enough to commit to living in the Gaza Strip. What a people! But no one can argue that had the disengagement never taken place, Jewish Gazan Settlements would have prevented October 7 and can do so in the future.
