The incessant rocket fire today from Hezbollah in the north has taken a number of lives, Israeli and foreign. Farmer Omer Weinstein, a father of four from Kibbutz Daphna, and five of his Thai workers in the apple orchards of Metula a hundred meters from the Lebanese border were targeted by rocket fire, killing them all. In addition, a mother and son from Shefaram near Kiryat Ata were killed as they were working in their olive orchards. May their memories be a blessing. Such evil to target farmers!
One would think, given this and the evil that surrounds us, that our own people would be not be aiding and abetting the enemy. Sadly, more and more this is turning out not to be true. Other shocking cases of espionage by Israeli Jewish citizens continue to be revealed by the Mossad. An Israeli couple from Lod, Rafael and Lala Guliyev, 32, and Asher Benyamin Weiss from Bnei Brak are the latest charged with spying for Iran. Prosecutors say the pair tracked a woman at a top security think tank with the intention of killing her, while the man spied on a nuclear scientist for potential assassination.
I can’t tell you how horrifying this is.
But perhaps even worse than this – yes, there is something worse – they at least were simply greedy losers who wanted easy money because they were too stupid or lazy to work for it and were willing to literally sell out their families – but what can you say about Amos Shoken, the publisher of one of Israel’s oldest newspapers, Haaretz?
Shoken, who got up at a public conference in London (like Israeli PR doesn’t have enough problems in that particular locale! ) and calls Hamas terrorists “freedom fighters” and Israel “an apartheid state” casting false, disgusting aspersions on the government and army of Israel just as we are surrounded and battling the vermin of mankind?
“Haaretz” has always been left-wing. Sometimes shockingly so, pretending that Israeli government policy is responsible for terror attacks, defending the axis of evil. They were even behind pre October 7 calls for reservists to boycott their army service! But this is the last straw.
Millions are paid to Haaretz by Israeli taxpayers through the publication of legal notices and government ads. This was brought to the Finance Committee of the Knesset for discussion by MK Moshe Gafni who said: “It is not possible for the State of Israel to pour millions of shekels a year into someone’s pocket who echoes the voice of the enemy and supports him. Throughout the years, and especially in the last year, this newspaper harms the IDF and the country, encourages disobedience during wartime, and more. We call on you to hold an urgent discussion in the committee demanding to stop government publication in this enemy-supporting newspaper.”
MK Amichai Chikli, Minister for Diaspora Affairs and Combating Antisemitism, had this to say: “The publisher of Haaretz announced yesterday that Israel has created “a cruel apartheid state against the Palestinian population,” calling those who murdered, raped, and butchered our people “freedom fighters.” There is nothing more false, outrageous, or serious than these words of incitement from the playbook of Israel’s biggest enemies. Our office which is in the forefront of the battle against the delegitimization of Israel is profoundly shocked to see this kind of propaganda coming from an Israeli institution.” Minister Chikli announced that in light of the above, all contact and cooperation with Haaretz “will now be discontinued, including the publication of government notifications.”
Shocking. If you have a subscription, please cancel. As they say, no one is a little bit crazy. Those articles they published about the “poor Palestinians” by writers like Amira Hess, who never saw a terrorist should couldn’t sympathize with, were tip of the iceberg. The rot goes deep and apparently starts at the top. I, for one, will be foregoing any connection to this paper.
The Times of Israel, based on a CNN report, says Iran will deliver a “definitive and painful” response to Israel’s recent attack on its territory, likely before the US presidential election. Do I believe that? Well, the source, CNN, which claims it’s based on an Iranian with knowledge of deliberations in Tehran, is not the most trustworthy, to say the least. As we all know, CNN is Certainly Not News. But still, it might happen.
Our Prime Minister doesn’t sound worried.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, speaking at graduation ceremony of IDF cadets: “The bravado of the Iranian regime cannot mask the simple fact that Israel today has a greater freedom to operate in Iran that ever before,” referring to the attack which took out strategic air defenses and other military installations.
Israel has not altered its intention to stop Iran’s efforts to obtain nuclear weapons.
And I say: If Iran wants to attack us, get in line.
You all know that everything that has happened to Israel this year is simply God’s plan on how to remove the Iranian nuclear threat, right? God-willing, soon we will have a strong American ally at our side.
And it’s not Kamala Harris, that untrustworthy, wishy-washy, I-believe-this today-and-that-tomorrow, stupid woman.
