I read today something that MK Avigdor Lieberman said that really shook me up. He said that we are making the same mistake in the north as we did in the south. “It’s clear that it’s only a matter of time. Hezbollah is waiting for us to be submerged in Gaza with a lot of forces. At the most convenient time for them, they will open the second front. We are leaving all of the initiative in the hands of Hezbollah.”
Lieberman is one of the more clear-thinking members of Israel’s political elite, and has always taken a very aggressive stand against Israel’s enemies. In December 2016 he sent a message to Netanyahu that now sends chills up my spine stating that Israel must initiate a surprise attack on Gaza, and that not doing so “is a severe mistake with far-reaching consequences that could be… even more so than the results of the Yom Kippur War in their influence on the Israeli Home Front, on the consciousness of Israeli citizens and on the image and standing of the State of Israel in the region.”
Netanyahu is on his way to America to speak to Biden. I can’t figure out why… He was supposed to leave yesterday, but waited around to see if the Houthis would make good on their retaliatory threats to send hundreds of drones in our direction. Apparently, the Houthis, who are always pictured eating cheekfuls of gat – a hallucinogenic plant they are constantly chewing, which explains a great deal – didn’t get the red light from Iran (which, by the way, is 200 kilometers closer to Israel then they are). Netanyahu took off today.
Before leaving, Netanyahu announced a new delegation for the hostage and cease-fire talks. Another mistake. Every Hamas terrorist released will be responsible for the death of more Israelis. We are trading our future for the possibility of returning hostages who may or may not still be alive. It’s a horrible choice, but an inevitable one. When you deal with savages, you have to make unthinkable choices. I am sure if it was one of my family members being held by monsters, I wouldn’t care about the consequences of getting them released. But our government is supposed to care, to be guided by reason, and not to give into emotional blackmail. The “we must do everything we can” mantra must also take into consideration what things we absolutely can’t do. After all, Sinwar was let out to free Gilad Shalit. Thousands are dead because of it.
I’m giving you a heads up about multiple whining that will be heard about the continuing battles in Gaza, and the “poor Palestinian refugees” being shunted out of their tents to other areas. Just so you know:
From Abu Ali Express:
IDF: Earlier today (Monday), the IDF called on Gazan civilians to temporarily evacuate from specific areas of Khan Yunis. This was carried out due to intelligence indicating that terrorists were operating and firing rockets in these areas, as well as efforts by Hamas to reassemble its forces there. Following this, the IDF began combined operational activity above and below ground in the area.
As part of the operational activity, IDF aircraft and tanks struck and eliminated terrorists in the area.
Since this morning, the IAF and IDF artillery forces have struck more than 30 terror infrastructure sites in Khan Yunis, including in the area from which a projectile was launched toward Nirim in southern Israel earlier today.
Additionally, the IAF struck a weapons storage facility, observation posts, terror tunnel shafts, and structures used by the Hamas terrorist organization.”
There is no question that the pressure on the population in East Khan Younis is high. There is much crying and lamenting on social media. People are complaining about being displaced repeatedly with no end in sight. They also mention that they had to evacuate this time under fire, as if the war had started anew. Reminder: Hamas encouraged them not to listen to IDF warnings to evacuate, so only when bombs starting falling did they run for their lives. Whose fault is that?
In general, I look at the videos of these miserable, suffering people who only a few months ago were dancing in the streets over the deaths of Israelis and celebrating the rape and kidnappings of their “Zionist enemies,” and cannot find it in my heart to care. Sorry. Jews are “compassionate people, the children of compassionate people.” But apparently there are limits, and I for one have reached mine. Their present pitiable state is their own doing.
They had all the opportunities in the world, all the money in the world, to create a wonderful home and future for their families and they chose instead to hate and kill. Let this be an object lesson to all the other jihadis in the world. Chose your leadership wisely, and educate your children to love, not to hate. Otherwise, this is the fate that awaits you too.
