Gaza War Diary: 21 DECEMBER 2023

Secretary of State Antony Blinken on Wednesday surprisingly called out other countries for not demanding Hamas surrender.

“What is striking to me is that even as, again, we hear many countries urging the end to this conflict, which we would all like to see, I hear virtually no one saying – demanding of Hamas that it stop hiding behind civilians, that it lay down its arms, that it surrender. This is over tomorrow if Hamas does that. This would have been over a month ago, six weeks ago, if Hamas had done that,” Blinken said during a press briefing at the State Department Wednesday.

“How can it be that there are no demands made of the aggressor and only demands made of the victim,” Blinken went on to say.

Yes, how can that be?

In the meantime, the good news is that Hamas has rejected any offer of a ceasefire-hostage exchange. Why good news? Because this prevents our government from being railroaded into deals that will tear Israeli society apart. So let us be thankful that Hamas’ cruelty is matched only by its stupidity.

The IDF is making incredible progress in destroying Hamas’ entire military infrastructure in Gaza, and is finishing off its senior commanders: four of the seven senior commanders of the Gaza Brigade are already dead. The elite tunnel system serving senior commanders with their elevators, refrigerators and communications networks has also been exposed and will be destroyed. Can Sinwar, that rat, be far away?

Palestinians are surrendering in droves holding flags with the words in Hebrew “Am Yisroel Chai” -The Jewish People Lives! Quite a change from the tune they were singing on October 7. Likewise, Gazan bloggers who released joyous videos in the wake of the barbarous murders are now showing themselves crying for their own dead families. Boo-hoo. I guess if Mein Kampf in Arabic wasn’t such a bestseller all over Gaza and the West Bank (copies are being found by the IDF everywhere) they would have had a better future for themselves and their children.

Still, the rocket fire from Gaza to Israel continues. Thirty rockets sent this afternoon to Tel Aviv and its environs. There are photos of large pieces of shrapnel all over the country. Miraculously, no human casualties or injuries so far, and not even much property damage. Two large pieces fell in a car park in Ashdod, exactly where they didn’t touch a single car! The war in the North with Hezbollah is also heating up, with five anti-tank missiles, a number of drones, and mortar shells hurled at border town Margaliot for hours.

The latest friends of Israel to arrive and show support include Jerry Seinfeld, Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner, as well as actress Debra Messing in combat gear, who together with Israel’s dear friend Douglas Murray are joining the IDF in Gaza. I thank them all for coming, learning, and going back to share the truth with influential people back home

A fascinating essay by Lee Smith entitled “The Global Empire of Palestine” puts our war with Hamas into perspective. As long as the mythical, global Palestinian State exists in the minds of admiring, worldwide multitudes, who cherish and identify with its death-cult wishes and black-hearted, deviant inhabitants, Hamas will be hard to defeat in a permanent and true victory.

We are gazing over the same landscape Noah faced when asked by G-d to build his ark: a world filled to overflowing with hatred, violence and evil, bereft of any moral right to exist. Whatever we accomplish in tearing down this truly despicable universe, if it is refinanced and repaired and allowed to rise again, will demean our sacrifices and the killing will go on. But perhaps, not so close to Israel’s borders. Perhaps the best we can hope for is distance, and more reaction time when the next horsemen of the apocalypse come calling. So far, Israel is the only one manning the wall to keep out the Death Riders. May God watch over our soldiers and our hostages.

No one says it as loud and as clear you do Naomi! I have read all your wonderful books You are a true champion of Israel and the Jewish people !May G-d watch over you and your precious family

David Bornstein, you are so spot on about Australia, I’m ashamed as well!

Many Israeli casualties are because the ridiculous extra care they need to take to follow “the laws of war” that the Australian foreign minister keeps mentioning in the same breath as “Israel has a right to defend itself “. I am ashamed to be an Australian at this time and have written to our prime minister and foreign minister telling them that! To be praised by Hamas for our vote at the UN? What a disgrace! Hamas is a proscribed terrorist organisation here. The problem is far too many Arabs living in government held seats, which are under threat from the virulently antisemitic greens party, who have been beyond the pale since their formation. And yet 1 in 10 Australians vote for them……aside from plain old antisemitism, of course!
Finally, our foreign minister comes to Israel in the new year. I hope and trust Israeli government authorities don’t let her say a word until she views the entire Hamas video, and tours the devastated communities in the South plus visiting displaced people in Israel, and notably hostage families. Only then should she be allowed to open her mouth. Not once has she called for a surrender and release of hostages. She has been told that time and again, if not by Zionist and Jewish organizations here, but I have written and told her that at least twice previously. Incidentally, I have, in the past, been successful in getting genuine responses from members of parliament and even getting a pro Israel petition tabled in parliament years ago.
Bleating on about “ceasefires” is garbage. A durable ceasefire needs a Hamas surrender.

I agree with you, and I’m glad your efforts have borne some fruit. I’m sorry that you feel ashamed to be Australian, but I wouldn’t be, in the same why that I am not ashamed to be American because of my county’s policy failures. I love Aussies, I think they are a wonderful people, and they have shown themselves throughout history to always be fighting on the side of freedom. I think a great thing to write to the politicians, if you haven’t already, is the story of the Australians in the Second World War. Did the Australians in Singapore not fight great terrorists in their time, the Empire of Japan? Were the Australian POWs captured in Malaya and Singapore not treated brutally at the hands of the Japanese? They should remember those times, and see that Hamas is more or less the same type of entity and should be treated accordingly.

Thank you so much for your war diary. I enjoy getting your on-the-gound insights as to what is going on. I read a lot about it, but it’s not the same from news outlets. You confirm some of my thoughts and add other items I was unaware of previously.

Why did the United States have the right to drop atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, knowing what deaths and casualties it would cause? Did they not drop leaflets on the Japanize cities allowing the citizens to flee? What about the indiscriminate bombing of the city of Hamburg at the end of World War 2, causing the death of many civilians? Israel goes out of its way to protect the citizens of Gaza, when Hamas uses its citizens as human shields. It appears there are different rules for the United States and its allies and Israel in the time of war!
What would the USA do if thousands of rockets were sent from Cuba to harm the citizens of Florida?

Wow, I’m glad Blinken called out the countries, Fetterman did the same thing. I’m glad people are surrendering. It seems to me that things are finally looking up a little bit for Israel and its soldiers.

This current administation would applaud the US being the reciepient of bombs from Cuba

      • Ryan Keogh

Haha, that reminds me of the Winter War, when the Soviets were firebombing Finland, and Molotov said the bombs were actually food packages. “We are delighted that the Cuban government has sent America free aid.”

Havana would no longer be a vacation spot. In fact, it would no longer be.
