There is a Jewish saying which goes: “When the month of Adar begins, much joy follows.” This week’s summary of events is not quite a list of happy events, but certainly there are things for which we should all be grateful.
Lebanon’s Hezbollah threat has been destroyed, its elite troops blown up, its weapons stashes along our border dismantled. Assad, our enemy, is gone. While his replacement is an ISIS terrorist, at least he is in no position to threaten Israel at present. Israel has taken over the Syrian part of the Golan Heights! Israel has created border barriers on the Lebanese side to protect Israeli towns, so that residents of the North can safely return home.
Hamas has no ability to threaten us anymore – its weapons are depleted; its partners and supporters in Iran and Hezbollah unable to help, while the new American regime has given Israel the green light to destroy Hamas completely. All their efforts to start an uprising in Judea and Samaria have failed, along with 195 thwarted terror attacks in this month alone.
For the first time in decades, there are no Hamas or Hezbollah rockets aimed at our heartland. The hostages are Hamas’s only remaining leverage. Let us hope we find some way to save the eleven still in Hamas hands, and return the dead to their families to bury and mourn.
Perhaps this is why yesterday’s Purim festivities in Jerusalem were so very joyous. The dancing and singing went on and on in the center of town and the Machane Yehuda market which had wall-to-wall people dressed up as everything from Pharoah to playing cards. And what was the song our young people, who have been through so much, sang with such enthusiasm? “The Holy One Blessed Be He always loves me and I will experience only good, and more good, and more good, and more good.”
It says something that the current Israeli hit song is filled with such dizzying optimism, flying in the face of our recent experiences. How beautiful is it that Israeli hearts are still so full of faith and love, hope and optimism that they can embrace such lyrics?
Less happy is the current internal political turmoil in Israel which is reaching unprecedented heights with the clash between Ronen Bar, head of the Shin-Bet, Israel’s security force so heavily responsible for the catastrophe on October 7, and Prime Minister Netanyahu. Following Bar’s thinly veiled attempt to blackmail Netanyahu by hinting of many things he has not yet publicized, Netanyahu fired him. Bar, however, has refused to leave, declaring that he would remain in office and that the Prime Minister’s “expectation of personal loyalty” is inadmissible and against the law. Rejecting his dismissal, Bar said: “I must first fulfill my personal obligation and the obligation of the Ministry to return the hostages and complete several sensitive investigations.”
The government’s legal advisor, whom Netanyahu is also trying to replace after many outrageous, baldly political decisions going counter to Israel’s security interests, has of course backed Bar.
Channel 14, which is on the right of the political spectrum, suggested dealing with Bar this way: “Ronen Bar’s statement rejecting his dismissal by the political leadership is an extremely worrying event. Therefore, Bar must be removed from office as soon as possible and if he does not leave, he should be arrested, tried and jailed. Anyone who cooperates with him will be seen as an accomplice to sedition and anarchy. Our patience with rebellions was exhausted on October 7.”
Wow. That’s all we need now. A civil war. Already the usual suspects are gearing up their public campaigns. It’s the same people who have funded by the millions campaigns against Netanyahu, which neatly segued into a “freeing the hostages” campaign which made liberal use of the distraught families of those imprisoned in Gaza to further their political agenda. I’m so sick of these people and their raw machinations to seize power, all under the banner of “saving democracy.” Sound familiar?
Danny Danon, Israeli U.N. Ambassador, responded to the vile set of lies against Israel published by the notorious UN Human Rights Council: “The report is not even worthy of the paper it was printed on. Anyone who supported this false publication is complicit in whitewashing Hamas’s war crimes and trampling on the truth. While Israel goes above and beyond to avoid harming innocent people, terrorists are barricading themselves in hospitals, using women and children as human shields, and abusing their own population. But the UN? The UN is busy looking for a way to blame Israel instead of looking reality in the eye. History will judge those who supported the spread of these lies.”
Meanwhile, we are gaining new friends. The large Druze community in Southern Syria, for example, to whom Israel has been sending large quantities of humanitarian aid over the past few weeks. This week, buses brought Druze spiritual leaders into Israel to visit Druze holy places. Israel has warned the ISIS terrorists now calling themselves the “Syrian government” not to mess with the Druze, even providing Israeli air cover for the Druze community.
It’s not paranoia. Listen to the exhortations coming from a senior jihadist from Syria’s ruling Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) movement to his troops:
“Mujahideen, don’t leave a single Alawite alive. You must slaughter them — all from the youngest to the oldest, disabled or not — all must be slaughtered, for they are pigs, they are infidels. Throw them into the sea, crush them — slaughter them all… Come on, people, get to work! Slaughter them all!”
To celebrate these murders (what else would you call it?) the European Union has invited Syrian leader Ahmed al-Sharaa to a donors conference in Brussels on March 17. They just can’t wait to finance more horrors with European tax euros!
You know that fearsome line-up of Hamas “soldiers” on camera during the hostage release? Most of them are paid actors. Palestinians in Berlin who recently fled the Gaza Strip told Channel 12 reporter Oded Hemo that participants in the hostage release ceremonies are given $200 each — and half of them are not even from Hamas. They just put them in uniforms, give them weapons to present an image of victory. “If I were in Gaza and they offered me $200, I would do it too — then I take off the uniform and go on my way. They forget you, and you forget them.”
Turkey has begun renovating the Menagh air base in northern Aleppo, which will become a Turkish base in Syrian territory. The Turkish government led by that Muslim fanatic Erdogan, are true enemies of the West, and a danger to Israel. Kick them out of NATO.
There are clashes between the new Syrian government forces and Hezbollah. An anti-tank missile fired by Hezbollah from Lebanon hit the area where journalists and soldiers of the new Syrian regime are located in Syrian territory. Three Syrians were killed. Can we be so lucky that Hezbollah and Syrian ISIS maniacs with start a war with each other? A girl can only dream.
Meanwhile, our favorite American President EVER has started to show the doped-up Houthi savages and cave-dwellers that it isn’t a good idea to attack American ships or international shipping routes, something his senile predecessor seemed reluctant to do. Bombing took place all over the capital Sana’a, with promises of more to come. The Houthis reacted by sending drones to a US aircraft carrier (easily deflected) and a missile to Israel which landed on the Egyptians in Sinai near Sharm-el-Sheik. Disappointed no doubt, they did a dance with their habitual war cry while digging out from under US bombs:
“Allah is Great,
Death to America,
Death to Israel,
Damn the Jews,
Victory for Islam”
Adam Buehler, the American envoy who met directly with Hamas officials in January and who upset many of us in his attempts to separate out American citizen hostages from the rest, noting that “the United States is not an agent of Israel” has been dumped by our dear President. Or, as he put it: “withdrawn his official candidacy for the position of US hostage affairs envoy.” Even more importantly, Hamas’ attempt to win favor with the US by freeing American hostage Edan Alexander and the bodies of four murdered Americans has been soundly rejected by negotiator Witkoff as “a non-starter”. Really, the new American government is not an agent of Israel. They are part of our family. Thank you President Trump, Secretary Rubio, negotiator Witkoff.
Yuval Abraham, who accepted his dirty Oscar for his despicable, lying propaganda film against his own country, can be seen in a video holding a gun against IDF soldiers while filming. I personally am in favor of the good old tar and feathering technique of dealing with traitorous scum like him. I can smell the barrels of melting black stuff on the side of the road in Tel Aviv, see the crates of chicken feathers sent down from the kibbutzim up north…
We’ll give him an “award” he really deserves.
