GAZA WAR DIARY: 22 May 2024

A most interesting video uploaded by the Palestinians showing a brave Gazan thanking Allah for the Israeli food trucks: “55 trucks from the infidels have significantly brought the price of food down. Glory be to Allah. But when 700-1,000 trucks entered daily from Hamas and Egypt, the prices only went up.” No wonder. Since Hamas stole most of the food, prices were sky high, Hamas raking in the profits. No more. But Israel had to defy the Americans to bring the only relief the non-Hamas (meaning not privy to terrorist perks, but surely Hamas supporters) Gazans have had in months. Should we laugh or cry?

I would expect a thank you at the very least from the Biden administration, who kept hammering away at the disaster that would befall the world if Israel went into Rafah. Meanwhile, civilian casualties have been the lowest of the whole war since Gazans voluntarily left Rafah for safer environs. Israel is now in control of seventy percent of the Philadephi Corridor. Taking over the Rafah crossing is proving to be the most significant success of the war, one that will hopefully bring the end closer.

Fierce hand to hand fighting is taking place in Rafah, with numerous Hamas terrorists dead, weapons depots emptied. Israeli planes have attacked hundreds of terror enclaves in the area.

I’m sure you’ve all heard it by now, how some stupid Arab took seriously an Israeli joke about the death of Iran’s President being at the hands of a Mossad agent named “Eli Copter.” But a new post says its actually the work of the Mossad agent “Karma Isabitch.” Wonder if CNN will be reporting that too?

The recognition of the non-existent “Palestinian State” by Ireland, Spain, and Norway will not go unpunished. Israel has a long list of retaliations prepared for those whose hatred and antisemitism have crossed every red line. Among the measures being discussed are the removal of our diplomats and the denial of entry visas to diplomats from these countries, preventing them from going to “Palestine,” i.e., Judea and Samaria.

Minister of Finance Bezalel Smotrich, has declared he will no longer be transferring money to the PA, because it owes 2 billion shekel for all the free electricity it has gotten from Israel over the years. Under the Oslo Accords, Israel is responsible for collecting customs duties and other tax revenues on behalf of Ramallah, due to the PA’s lack of statehood status. It then transfers the funds to the PA on a monthly basis, providing funds that amount to nearly 65 percent of the Palestinian annual budget.

“No more. After many years of great injustice, Israeli citizens will stop financing electricity for the PA out of their own pockets,” Smotrich said in a Tuesday tweet. “For many years, the Finance Ministry failed massively, and because of that Israeli citizens paid millions of shekels each month to fund the electricity consumption of the PA. From now on, I will deduct from the funds for the PA each month the entirety of its electricity consumption, and later on we will also deduct money to offset its past debts.” Oh my, such a tragedy! Abbas will have to stop paying the salaries of Palestinian murderers, living and dead. Good move, Smotrich!

The Knesset repealed the Disengagement Law, forbidding Israelis from entering former settlements. Today Defense Minister Yoav Gallant and Head of the Samaria Regional Council Yossi Dagan confirmed: “Further to the enactment of the law canceling the disengagement in Northern Samaria that passed in the Knesset plenum, Defense Minister Yoav Gallant instructed to implement the language of the law also in Sa-Nur, Ganim and Kadim – this is in continuation of the initial order that included the settlement of Homesh.”

But it’s symbolic only, as IDF Central Command chief bars Israelis from entering the Gaza area until 2028. I’d like to see Israelis rebuild all the wrongly evacuated Gaza settlements, which kept the Hamas rocket launchers from reaching Ashdod and Ashkelon. But it probably won’t happen given the international climate that wants us wiped off the map entirely. Not likely we’ll add more fuel to the fire right at this moment.

I have something I must admit: when the news broke about President of Iran Raisi’s helicopter going down, I prayed so hard that he would be smashed to smithereens and not found alive and rescued. Today a photo of his body at the crash site was released: burnt to a crisp, a black sewer cover. Thank you G-d for answering my prayers.

Palestinian channels report that the Kuwaiti Hospital in Rafah, site of enormous Hamas activity, is being evacuated. Its director, Dr. Zahib Elhames, says that patients and staff are being sent to a field hospital in Mawasi of Khan Yunis. (The area to which the displaced people evacuated). I am hopeful that once the IDF goes inside, it will find clues to what we are all so broken-heartedly looking for.

Today the families of the kidnapped young Israeli women soldiers who were field observers released the tape of their daughters filmed by Hamas. The young women are lined up against a wall, bruised and bloodied, as a Hamas monster tells the camera: “They could get pregnant.” You can watch this horrific video here.

It makes me want to grab a machine gun and go into Gaza myself. What torture for the parents of those poor girls! But as I wrote to you yesterday about what lengths the IDF goes to in order to pursue every lead to rescue hostages, living and dead, I am sure that no stone will be or has been, left unturned to find and rescue our dear girls, and destroy their vicious, rapist, murdering captors, who deserve absolutely no mercy.

It turns out that the reason that the hostage talks broke down was not due to Israel, whose offer was more than generous and had already been signed. But unbeknownst to everyone, an Egyptian go-between changed the terms of the agreement before giving it to Hamas, offering them a deal that had never been on the table. Even the Americans were furious. So the talks broke down, and those poor girls continue to suffer.

Breaks my heart.

    So horrifying…These girls….
Today I went for my swim. I live is a small fairly left city in Canada. Suddenly these women 70 and up began saying horrifying things about BB. I got upset…”Tell me”,I ask, does Israel not have a right to defend itself?” Of course I am one of maybe 15 Jews who live in this city. One woman goes on about the Gazan babies and women…”Wait a minute” I say…My voice is rising….What about the 1200 slaughtered in Israel..” I go into detail…they ignore me. “The hostages..” They were not interested… I was in tears when I reached my car…i can no longer swim with these people… My world is getting smaller.
I watched this video today and it describes the planned propaganda of Iran… It’s really worth watching… Thanks Naomi. I have a friend in this blog.

Dear Sara, you have many friends, but sadly not in your swim group. I’ve tried talking facts after laughing emojis on fallen IDF. sites, to no avail. Had an attempted money scam for IDF Drones, after a name I recognized contacted me from Hostage Support site. I realized there was a reversal of 2 letters in his name, which he tried to explain away. When he thought he “had my money”, I was provided a Bank acct # from Bank in Jerusalem. I contacted Friends of the IDF, who didn’t care about Bank info, but told me illegal to help purchase weapons. I surely knew that. If you lived close, Sara, I’d ask you to coffee, or the beach. 🌷🙏🇮🇱

      Hi Sarah,

Your story reminded me of psalm 38, verse 20, which says that “my enemies are alive and well, those who wrongfully hate me increase their numbers, and, since they repay good with evil, they oppose me because I pursue good.”

Also Isaiah 5, verse 20, which as I’m sure you know, says,

“Woe to those who call evil good
      and good evil,
      who change darkness into light
      and light into darkness,
      who change bitter into sweet
      and sweet into bitter!”
