ISRAEL WAR DIARY: 14 SEPTEMBER 2025

I begin this week’s column with an expression of heartbreak over the murder of our friend, the brilliant, articulate Charlie Kirk. In a world where Israel and the Jewish people have few supporters, a world where decency and morality are hard to find, Charlie was a spark of heavenly light. He was someone who could miraculously speak through the lies and obfuscations of the Left who are trying to rule the world and teach goodness.

He was very effective. Someone compared him to the Biblical Abraham who invited all to his tent, where he taught them the ways of God. He will impossible to replace. Thank you Charlie! For the more moral people become, the more pro-Israel they become.

In the aftermath of this horrible tragedy, I feel something changing. Whereas through the years Muslim, pro-Palestinian propaganda ran riot, overwhelming our resources in countering their absolute lies and fakery, Charlie’s death and the close up and personal contact of the West with Muslims has finally picked up the slack.

The first indication of Muslims having overplayed their hand, was the chanting by Northern Ireland football fans to Hamas demonstrators suggesting where they could “stick their Palestine.” This chant, for all its crudeness, has suddenly been taken up on social media by thousands, which would not have been possible years ago. It’s become almost an anthem of those fighting the Muslim invasion of Europe. I believe it is the first sign of the turnaround of European support for the Palestinian cause, and for leaders like Keir Starmer, Macron, and the vicious Pedro Sanchez, all of whom will be unelected sooner rather than later because they have lost their constituents. In the end, it is my belief that the average European – who is not a neo Nazi – will finally realize that little Israel should be their hero. As much as they hate Jews, they are beginning to hate Muslims more. This is a good sign for us.

It’s been a good week for the IDF’s war on Gaza City. Bomb strikes have eliminated high rises, schools, mosques and numerous other hiding places for Hamas military headquarters, chasing the “innocent civilians” out to find shelter where Hamas will find it hard to hide among them. The streams of refugees fleeing Gaza City even has the most stalwart Hamas supporters, including such pro Hamas activists like Safinaz Al-Louh, who Israel Today describes as “green from head to toe” and always adopts the Hamas narrative 100%, who writes: “The evacuation takes the wind out of us.”

Boo-hoo. So much for your “flood.” Now they are crying about the new “nakhba,” which means catastrophe. Palestinians are very good at creating catastrophes for themselves.  But since the first “nakhba” in 1948 when they listened to Arab leaders and abandoned their homes in Israel in order to return as triumphant conquerors, and instead lost everything, they have learned absolutely nothing. As one Gazan put it: “They destroyed us up to our grandchildren. Nahkba 2025.”

Sorry, we can’t hear you until you release our hostages and surrender your weapons.

The attack on the Hamas directorate in Doha may not have yielded perfect results, but it has at last pulled the rug out from under the Ponzi game and double dealing of the Qataris who want to embrace the United States with one hand and Hamas with the other.

Sorry, no can do. I think Trump and Rubio handled it perfectly, denying involvement, regretting the attack, but insisting it won’t change anything. Not true. It’s changed everything. Hamas leaders, who used that same space in Doha to plan and celebrate October 7, felt the ground move under their feet, and will never feel secure, anywhere, ever again.

I read two articles in my weekend paper which totally contradicted each other, yet both of them are true and reflect the complexity of how we are feeling these days.

One of them talked about reserve soldiers in their forties who willingly come to their units and even prolong their service. Why do they do it, one was asked. “Well, if I’m doing guard duty, the person who has to take over comes five minutes early. He will never come five minutes late, and if he does he apologizes a hundred times. If I’m on duty during a meal, someone will either offer to take over for me so I can eat, or bring me food. There is such a feeling of good will, camaraderie, and kindness that’s hard to find any place else. I love it so much I stay longer.”

The second article described the opposite: road rage, and an incident in a supermarket where someone was injured by a teenager carelessly banging her cart into him who refused to apologize and whose father went ballistic and hurled curses for anyone trying to educate her. The author saw it as an expression of the violence which surrounds us everywhere. There is truth to that too.

The terror attack of two buses with home-made guns wearing police uniforms took place on the road leading to Ramot, where I lived for two decades, and which is now primarily haredi. The quick response came from two armed haredim – one of them in a haredi army unit, and the other a brave yeshiva student who inherited his grandfather’s pistol. Together, they put an end to the murder spree, saving countless lives. I’m sure this was a revelation to the haredi world. It was their people who were saved, by their people. Perhaps they will reconsider their objections to teaching their yeshiva boys how to shoot.

Being in the IDF and being haredi are not mutually exclusive.

Thank you your kind words for Charlie. He said the best trip he ever took was to Israel. He said the 2nd best place he visited was … Israel. He defended Israel on campuses not only in America, but at Oxford to Seoul. It was on air as students just returning. The 2nd question sent my antenna up and tragedy unfolded. It’s been so stressful with violence and our President and his competent Administration juggling more balls in the air than I can imagine. And steadfast with Israel. So am I, Israel’s friend in Hawaii. Shabbat Shalom and Aloha 🌺

Just a little good news…The Israeli film, The Road Between Us, won best documentary at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) . After first being accepted, then denied entry (Lack of hamas authorization on footage???- in reality fear of demonstrators??). In any case the Jewish community rallied and the film was re-accepted and WON! The sad part was I’ve never seen the likes of the intense security, sad but good I guess…and there were the ignoramus demonstrators spewing the same old crap…babies yada yada, genocide- yada yada, starvation—-up your tuchus palestine!!
Also there was a left wing interviewer after the film- she just could not help herself- had to mention the babies….well she got it good being booed by over 2500 of us…
    Anyways, thought I would share.

I also read the news about what’s going on in Israel and the surrounding Arab countries and worry for all Israelis to know the truth as you write it.
