Has the time come to bury the corpse of the Oslo Accords? A bill proposed by Knesset Deputy Speaker Limor Son Har-Melech is being reviewed, aiming for a “national correction” and ending the Palestinian Authority’s administrative control in Areas A and B. Critics complain that by passing the bill Israel is aiming to take over the West Bank and settle it, including parts of Gaza, and to destroy the Palestinian Authority.
They say that like it’s a bad thing. The Oslo “peace” Accords have seen the death of thousands of Israelis in terror attacks since its signing in 1993. The Palestinian Authority continues to pay millions of dollars to terrorists and their families, money it receives from the West and supporters of the less than useless Accords. Hold the funeral. It’s time.
Over 92% of residents of southern Israel have returned to their homes since evacuation following October 7. As noted in the Tkuma Directorate Report, 3,000 newcomers have joined the original residents. Tkuma was established to lead the national effort to revive the cities and communities located within seven kilometers of the Gaza border, as well as northern communities affected by war.
This week Israel continues to expand its control over Hezbollah strongholds, rockets and launchers, and terror tunnels on our borders. Their accomplishments have been remarkable. More than 116 IDF attacks on Hezbollah this week alone, 85 over the weekend.
The injuries of Israeli soldiers, many of them reservists, by Hezbollah drones, is a problem that the defense establishment finds difficult to solve. Some reservists say that netting, like fishing nets, above them, can stop the drones from getting close enough to kill. They are asking for donations to buy these nets. The military denies this is helpful and says it has other, more effective ways, of protecting soldiers. So far, not impressed. Ukraine, fighting the same terrorist weapons, has been using drones with guns to shoot them down. Could that work?
Anat Peled, formerly a Haaretz reporter now working for the Wall Street Journal, exposed the creation of a secret Israeli base established in Iraq to help with the war against Iran. This information exposes Israeli soldiers to catastrophic attack. This journalist is an Israeli citizen who lives in Tel Aviv. She needs to be tried for treason.
Israeli soldiers are operating a David’s Shield out of the UAE. It has successfully helped protect that country from Iranian aggression. Amjad Taha, a prominent commentator and social media activist from the United Arab Emirates (about 680,000 followers on X), is tweeting the following in Hebrew:
Today, the Israeli leadership condemned the Iranian aggression against the UAE. Today, Israel stood with the UAE against the Islamic terror regime in Iran. An attack on the UAE is an attack on regional stability, civilization, and peace. True allies don’t disappear in times of war – they stand together shoulder to shoulder.
Pretty amazing!
The cat and mouse game that President Trump is playing with the Iranians is wearying. There is no way that he is going to pressure Iran into giving up its nuclear material with a carrot and stick approach. If they were rational, maybe. But they are insane fanatics. They will unintelligently use whatever time and leeway you give them to prove their manhood and virility, even if they all die. That’s their mentality. Claiming you are “negotiating” with them, even as they attempt to attack U.S. vessels, bomb the UAE, and continue to execute innocent Iranian civilians, is not the way to win this war, in my humble opinion.
I’m actually pretty sick of it. I know that Israel needs the President’s go-ahead, but Israel is ready to extract that nuclear material, and help the Iranians to overthrow the regime. I just don’t understand what Trump is waiting for or expecting to happen. And it also cannot be cheap to keep the entire U.S. navy on alert such a long time. As far as the blockade strategy, i.e., making them close down their pumps and not being able to export, if the regime is not dismantled, they will continue to pump oil and just dump it in the sea. What do they care about the environment?
You have all this fire-power. Follow the scenario of World War Two and use it, for goodness sake! That is what a war means. When you are dealing with an intractable enemy, you have no choice.
What do you think Iran’s response to Trump’s overtures is going to be? Please. Haven’t the Americans figured this out yet? Despite the fact that as an Israeli, I and my family will be the ones to suffer most if America starts bombing Iran, I urge the President to do it already.
I just saw a documentary about the nuclear bomb hitting Hiroshima. The devastation was impossible to grasp. That is what they want to do to us. Exactly that. It’s time to stop pussy-footing around. You take them out. Do it now. Or get out of our way and we’ll do it.
I am not alone in feeling this frustration. From Israel Today:
Victory is not only battlefield reality. It is national perception. Israel has weakened enemies, destroyed targets, and pushed threats back. But many Israelis still do not feel victory. No clear end. No full return to normal. No final sense of security. That is one of Israel’s invisible fronts: the space between facts and fatigue, strength and uncertainty, promise and patience.
An Israeli blogger named Shira Weiss expresses it this way (translation from the Hebrew my own):
I think we’re done with the “Chosen People” gig. What haven’t we gone through? Forty years we walked through the desert. Five thousand wars. Penina Rosebloom [ he platinum blond bombshell entrepreneur, former Knesset member, glamour girl now 71 and releasing patriotic songs] is now the country’s national singer! And in the middle of a national war, we do a week of eating matzah! Like that kid in the class we don’t stop giving new challenges to overcome and he’s willing to put up with it because we call him our top student. I can’t stand it! I don’t want to be the top student! I want to be an average student. I want to live in a country where nothing happens and the only challenge you have in the morning is to see if the weather is hot or partly cloudy. And where are all the prizes they promised us for being the Chosen People and don’t talk to me about all the Nobel Prizes. What is a Nobel Prize to me? Do you think when I’m sitting in the bomb shelter when rockets are falling all over us that I’m thinking: We are the Chosen People, look at all our Nobel prizes! In short, how do we pass on the Chosen People to somebody else already?
This made me laugh. But I understand her.
She might find the answer and some comfort in this week’s Torah portion: Leviticus, Chapter 26, 3-13.
If you follow My decrees, keep My commands and fulfill them…you shall eat your bread to the full and live securely in your land. And I will grant peace in the land, when you lie down, no one will make you afraid…and through that land no sword shall pass. You shall chase your enemies and they shall fall before you by the sword. Five of you will chase away a hundred, and a hundred of you shall send ten thousand to flight…I will walk among you. I will be your G-d and you shall be My people.
These statistics sound just about right today, Baruch Hashem.
May all this come to pass forever.
